Ari Roze

Ari Roze

Ari is a musician & composer originally from Long Island, N.Y. & now living in Australia. He comes from a family that located themselves away from the mainstream, settling in the mountains for a lifestyle of quiet, no television, telephones, other kids (dammit!) but there was always the music.. His parents are heavily into sounds collected on travels from all corners of the globe. A youth spent listening to music thru rocksteady reggae, funk, african, disco, latin, electro, hip hop, classical, jazz led to a steady interest in record collecting & playing instruments..

As a record collector & Dj, Ari continues travelling the world in search of the elusive sounds that original records from the source offer. Trips to South America, Jamaica, the USA, Japan & Europe make for some of the most diverse & deep dancefloor music in town..

As a musician not into to taking the path of sample based music or digitally fabricated sounds, Ari has built a studio of vintage proportions.. Original keyboards such as the D6 clavinet, Fender rhodes.. Vintage ribbon & dynamic mics, Ampex pre’s, tape echo’s, valve technology..  All of this to achieve the sound you’ll hear on his recordings & unlike much of todays music you’ll find no copy cattin’ here. Just a feel for playing instruments that comes from learning alongside the records..

The musicianship & arrangements are of course the most important ingredient, listen out on Mighty Highness for Ari Roze’s recordings. To check out myspace go to www.myspace.com/ariroze

Rolling with a Planet

Roze delivers a downbeat interplanetary experience that delves into the sounds of the Rocksteady & 80’s electrofunk. Rolling with a planet tells the story of a man looking to find some peace in the world & it’s a little tongue in cheek. You know irony is the spice if life & humour makes it roll. The B-side holds the Dub version, but has different instrumentation including the Rocksteady horns, African Kalimba, Conga & Melodica.
